Two nights a week abstaining...

I

latest government guidelines suggest we should all have a couple of nights a week without alcohol. What about forums... should we all have at least 2 nights a week when we don't log on?

Bet the pub in the House of Common won't shut 2 nights a week!

And you can bet the clientèle of that bar , won't be abstaining from alcohol any time soon (although they seem to like abstaining from voting) ;) ;) ;)

Never mind that....Rosemount Reserve shiraz grenache, £4.49 on offer at the co-op.
Sweeter than mothers milk, but the receptacle aint as nice. Hurry!

Guestimates?
I think so, now it's all confusing, eg: male drinking units 3 to 4 units per day, now is it 21 units or 28 units per week? oh hang on it's 5 days per week now, 21 units/ 5 days = 4.2 units per day or is it 28 units/5 days = 5.6 units per day or should it be 3 units x 5 days = 15units per week or is it 20 units? You see I should be a politician, I'm good at brainwashing. The rest of the world have difference units guidelines, right I'm off to New Zealand

You don't need units to tell you how much to drink for christ's sake ! You drink what you can handle.........end of story!.

We are all different animals with different levels of tollerance. It's yet another example of do-gooders telling us what is in our 'best interests'.

Don't eat this , don't drink that , first it is good for us , then it is bad. A glass of red wine is good for you and your heart. Now it isn't.

Aspirin in low doses can help prevent heart conditions , now it could cause them , butter is bad for us ( despite the fact our parents and grand parents etc etc ) have been eating this for centuries with no ill health does not even begin to enter the scientists mind. Now butter could have health benefits. The list goes on and on.

My personal opinion is , if you like it then eat , drink , smoke or whatever , and to hell with the constant 'don't do this' brigade.

I can understand why though as there is a big rise in liver diseases but they need to tell the truth regarding how many units because in New Zealand you can drink twice as much!

Maybe the 'do-gooders' have a reason for touting such crushingly restrictive advice.

Perhaps a government think tank has come up with a brilliant way of sparing the NHS trillions of pounds in unnecessary and preventable illnesses.

Gosh, what a super idea.

My personal opinion is, if my taxes will go down as a result of selfish smokers or fatties or boozers cutting down just a little, then so be it.

The fact is, poorly educated morons cost the country dear. No wonder educated folk are trying to nudge those poor clueless souls toward a slightly healthier lifestyle.

With respect, people giving up fags/beer will not make the Gov lower your tax. It will however make more people live longer and put even more strain on the ever decreasing pension pots. That will cost us all more, in one way or another.
