Two pipes coming out of wall - which is which?

Hi everyone,

In my bathroom, there are just two pipes coming out of the wall with push-fit caps on them. I want to (finally) install a radiator/towel rail in there before winter so we have at least some heat.

Is there a way to tell which pipe is the feed and which pipe is the return without flooding my bathroom(!)?

Traditionally the flow was on the right, but in reality no you can't tell. If you fit a bi-directional trv on the towel rail it will not matter which is which.

You should fit wheelhead and lockshield valves and it don't make any dam difference
