We only have Freeview and not planning an upgrade. The current set-up includes a joined coax cable. We have 2-3m from aerial to inside the roof space. This is then joined, a simple joint of both inner and outer, to the cable running down the wall into a socket below. Reception around Greater Manchester is fine.

We now want to add a second TV in an adjacent room. It's an easy task to fit a second socket and send the coax into the roof space. Is a simple 3-way joint of the coax acceptable or would you more knowledgeable guys recommend something different?

Many thanks in advance, much appreciated.

If you have a good signal then a simple splitter should be OK but if it degrades you may need to get a mast head amplifier. Or at least that's how it used to be, I don't have any experience with digital.

We've got a basic splitter to run two TVs. Seems to work fine. Easy thing to try and if it doesn't work then you can replace the splitter with an amplifier. Some need power, some can be powered via the aerial lead if your TV supports it.

I'm running a second TV from a splitter via an aerial booster. It's OK.

TBF, it would be OK without the booster. I was running two TVs from the booster at one point.

Greater Manchester too.

A two way passive splitter provides a bit under half the signal to each outlet. Fine in strong signal locations. Powered (amplified) splitters, low gain, if the signal level is too low are available.

I trust the join is a proper coax plug-socket arrangement and not a bodge join... But fitting a decent metal splitter will necessitate doing the job properly anyway!
