Can anybody tell me the benifits of using 3 core & earth as opposed to twin and earth in two way switching?

ignore this post, i have just realised that you if you take the supply to the switch you use twin & earth if you take the supply to the light you use 3 core & earth.

why ar e you asking? seems you dont have a clue what you are talking about (or not forthcoming with al the info)

whilst still on the subject of 2 way switching, why do NICEIC show the crappy method of wiring which needs a joint in one of the boxes (in their new colours pdf - www.niceic.org.uk/downloads/WiringSupp.pdf)

Surely it's better to wire it the alternative way that needs no joints? (presume you know what I mean without a circuit diagram)
