Types of rat bait

Hey guys, I got rats in my rotten summer house, they have been going for my bins and even been iny house. I've had pest control in for that. I've spoken to the pest control recently was like 2 months since they came out, but really helpful. So I have to leave the summerhouse up to help the situation plus it's a massive bait box. I've caught 3 with my older style trap with peanut butter and none with the newer style used shreddies and wine gum as I was advised .

They have eaten at least 300g of Brodifacoum bait blocks that I attached to wire. I bought some Brodifacoum granules which they haven't touched. The blocks were only put for 1 hours and lots of evidence they eating that. What's the difference between the granules and block?

Any other advice?

Rats like to gnaw the blocks. I had rats from neighbours compost heap. All gone now using a modern trap baited with corn and sunflower seeds. Good luck.

I left the summerhouse alone by not going near it, traps not been touched but the granules went.

I've now cleaned the traps , put fresh treats for them on it, 300g of granules and 17 blocks on wire.

I think this will never end

A decent pest controller will take the time to find where the rats are coming from and bait those areas not just where they are showing up .

Originally we found gaps under door plastic, gaps around the pipe outlets, the guy tried looking for the manhole cover which we can not find still. He never went to the summerhouse as at the time there was no suspicions plus it's rotten and was only keeping my spare wood dry. The shed brick built I proofed the door with metal then caught the one inside. Sealed up a gap under my stairs then found a gap nearby which probably explains for a while before this I swear I saw something moved. They had a field day in the loft. Caught one with a trap and they took the bait.

Outside my back door that's where the bin bags are kept. that's gonna be replaced for a year with 3 metal large bins. Until the council give us their plastic bin and large bags. They have chewed the only trap that worked. The new type they eat the cereal I put on it but not the tougher sweets.

I'm now thinking of getting a skip to clear my garden. Whilst not a dump stuff does need to go

You need to clear all rubbish as it will attract them. The last couple of weeks I have been catching mice. Hopefully a good sign as I have been told rats and mice will not coexist.

I think it's right enough. They both compete for the same type of food, living quarters etc. The rats will win every time.

Haven't tried it, but apparently sweet potatoes are toxic the rats... even though they will gnaw away at them if they are available to them.

With respect, that sounds like some kind of social media BS. Why would a rat be able to eat all other potato variants?

When it comes down to it, a rat will chew through a live mains cable. Doesn't mean it is good for the rat- that said- yeah, they are intelligent.
