Hello!
Further to my musings about boilers etc. I need a quick bit of advice.
I have a U16 gas meter. Looking next year to convert our oil fired boiler to gas. A couple of engineers have stated we need about 180kw input. No problems, but the meter spec says it can handle 173kw.
Transco tell me my supply is big enough for a load of up to 280kw with a bigger meter.
Do I spend another £550 getting the meter changed?
I know the boiler can be fired at a lower rate down to 120kw.
Will the U16 work with 180kw?
There are no other gas appliances.

Thanks Gents

You will need a larger meter (u25), I would also be looking at installing a cascade arrangement of smaller boilers this will be much more effiecent at part load

Or if space is tight, one Big one with a 5:1 turndown ration such as a Remeha 210eco or a Hoval Ultragas, or a MHS ultramax etc etc etc
I would consult with a Commercial Heating Contractor ;)
