I am taking a PA system and a data projector for some conferences in Mexico - their mains runs at 127v @ 60Hz

I know i need a voltage converter and it doesnt matter what frequency the output is for the PA amp (because the pa amp turns the ac current to dc at the input) but will the projector do the same or will it use ac current to turn the cooling fan motor??

are there any other problems with running this equipment out in those parts that i havent thought about?

would be glad of any advice or experience that any of you may have.

thanks a lot
Ixan.

no idea, you neglected to say make model of projector

I would also suggest you dont go asking such questions on forums because we do not make said items where as the makers do, They make it, ask them for the definative answer.

If they have gone bust or you dont know, then i wouldnt bother taking your kit.

why not hire it when you get there

I would suggest having alook at your rating labels, all barring the oldest of my PA amps will run happily at either 110 or 240V and actually came with american IEC leads as well british.
however my projectors, whilst the unit will run from 110, it does need a different lamp, and TBH unless its long term it may be cheaper to rent/hire a projector over there.

which is what i said, but also saves yours getting "broken in transit" and if yours does get broken in transit (assuming it may work and you have paid for the different lamp) you will still have to hire a replacement anyway

Replaced a fan a while back on one, was just a small 12v DC fan. Without knowing the make / model etc it is impossible to say.

The weight and size of kit + your clothes will be on or over excess baggage charges (BA charge at 1% of 1st class fair per kilo excess).

Dump the idea and hire kit from venue or a rental specialist in Mexico.

It will also save your back

Thank you guys
Just got back from a weeks testing in Mexico and its all good - I think its safe to say that most projectors run on 110-240v 50~60Hz not sure why you couldnt have just said that breezer. but i thank you for your input none-the-less.

The equipment is super expensive to hire out there - really easy to take with as hand luggage. (and the Peavey escort PA is perfect for extended baggage allowance on the plane)

One problem i did encounter was when i plug the laptop into the mains i get a flicker on the projection (i am using a cheap 10m VGA cable)
should i get a better shielded VGA cable? or are there other options?
