We have integral garage with pitched roof and I’m looking to make the garage space warmer as we have internal door and use garage for coats, shoes, fridge freezer etc. There are soffit vents are in each rafter space and cold air just pours into the garage.
Considered insulation with 50mm PIR board and vapour barrier but after reading about cold bridging, condensation, cross rafter air flow etc it now seems more bother than its worth. So now think as it’s not heated or habitable insulation would be costly, problematic and time consuming.
Now just decided to make the garage less draughty by directly underboarding rafters with 9mm OSB board.
Would this create issues with cross rafter ventilation and if so would I be better cross battening and fixing the boards to these?
Pitched roof, good amount of soffit vents, 100 mm deep rafters, non breathable membrane.
Any pointers please?
