underfloor heating mat

Hi we have bought a heating mat for concrete bathroom floor and intend to get tiles laid on top. The mat comes with a floorprobe and thermostat which will be outside the room.
The tiler says he can fit the mat and electrics , I am not sure if this is ok.
What is involved in this and is it notifiable under the regulations do we get an electrician and will he notify the council ? what does it costs to notify? thanks for any help.

If your tiler is Part P registered then he can do the the work and issue you with a certificate.
If not then the council has to be notified beforehand, and will certify the work after he's finished.
As regards what the council charge this seems to vary from one council to another so it's best to enquire first.

electricians must live in utter luxury ! £75 just to issue a certificate and a couple of connections ,cable ready and the socket etc.. no wonder it is rip off britain!

Try doing some reasearch into why your electrician charges £75, you arrogant................

£75 is nothing for the piece of mind of having a certificate to prove that the work was done correctly.

You are paying for his time, materials, and knowledge/competance.
