When any of the 4 zones in my underfloor heating are on the pump sounds like a heartbeat... woosh ..woosh ...woosh about once a second. The LED on the Grundfos Alpha pump pluses slightly and the flowmeters bounce.
The same thing happens with any of the zones.
The system is 6 years old but I only bought the house last year and suspect it hasn't been serviced at all since installation. The house has a Volkera Mynute HE boiler and storage tank and an S plan plus pipe layout with radiators upstairs.
Searching this and other sites suggests air may be an issue but would this be the case for all zones? There is certainly discolouration of the flowmeters but the rest of the central heating system is not showing any issues.
Adjusting the speed of the pump doesn't seem to change the frequency of the pulsing and loosening the bleed screw on the pump while it is running go a steady trickle of water with a little black particulate matter in it.
Do I go for getting the system flushed with tapwater first or should I investigate the pump further?
Thanks for any suggestions.
