Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post this question so hope I have the right section

Im gutting out my lounge with now, its a floor boarded floor on to joists that rest on a sound and dry concrete based (house was built circa 1969 if that helps).
I was wondering if its recommended or a modern day practice to add any insulation in the under floor voids, or if the space is needed for air circulation.

The house has cavity wall insulation which from what I understand blocks the brick air vents anyway

Do not under any circumstances insulate under your floor, you will get serious problems. I'm not sure who told you that cavity walls block air vents they most certainly do not. If you want to insulate the floor then either lay some hardboard, or similar on top of the boards, but a good thick under-felt and carpet will serve you best.
