Narrowed my choice of underlay to the following

Cloud 9
Tredaire Dreamwalk
Blue Heaven

Now, my question is do I go for 9mm or 11mm verions of the above?

cloud 9 Blue 9mm. 11mm is to thick and cause carpet to wear faster.

Thanks mattysupra, was hoping for a reply from yourself. Is there much difference in sound / thermal insulation?

Blue Heaven 9mm it is then.

not Blue heaven!!!!! Cloud 9, but the blue cloud 9. Its the 9mm one that is called cirrus. And the difference between sound and heat insulation is so small you would never be able to tell. !

Why not Blue Heaven? Isn't it just the same but with a poly backing rather than paper on the Cloud 9. It's meant to be quieter underfoot.

its not as good. Cloud 9 had a faulty batch a couple of years ago that was a bit noisy. However, the machine that made the faulty underlay set fire and burnt the place down. Anyway they have now changed the backing of the underlay to a soft backing.
