I had a new roof fitted 18 months ago. Where the underlay hangs into the gutter there is no UV protection. How important is this? Is it possible to fit one now the roof has been fitted?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

The underlay is a breathable Klober Perme Forte and it says on the comapany website that it should have an layer of protection at the eaves because of ultra violet light. Mine doesn't and I'm PANIC stricken!!

Any further advice/ reassurance would be welcome.

Obviously the proper way is to install a UV stable strip at the eaves but I can assure you that there are probably more roofs without than with.

I installed Tyvek on my roof 15 years ago without eaves protection and although there is some degradation it is still performing.

You haven't got a problem that's worth worrying about.

Even when it eventually disintegrates, it will be no worse than the millions of houses that have basic bitumen and string underslating felt that has rotted outside of the fascia. All that happens is you might see the fascia above the gutter if it`s been fixed too low, and some rain might miss the gutter in the wind.there`s less chance of any damage than winning the Euromillion lottery

Many thanks to you all for putting my mind at rest!!!
