Hi all,

I was under the impression and indeed everywhere I have looked that under a block and beam floor a weed membrain is required along with a layer of hardcore or shingle etc. On my plans I have received it has a small note saying "50 concrete oversite" and pointing to the ground under the beams.

First of all what is concrete oversite and second of all is this needed on the ground below the floor rather than a membraini and some shingle/hardcore?

Thanks in advance

Oversite is just that: a layer of concrete laid over the site. Its probsbly best practice as it prevents weed growth and prevents rodents digging through.
However you can just do terram and hardcore. Ive seen jobs where the bare earth is left as is.

Make sure min 150mm air gap is left under beams.
