Looking for an undersink inline water filter that would feed the cold side of a mixer tap.

Don't really want to make a hole for a separate faucet.

Problem is both hard water/limescale and chemical taste of water supply.

Any recommendations for a reasonably priced filter?

Forgive as not what your asking.
They are a luxury item that play up. I've never been impressed or seen many, and the ones that were fitted are just trouble.

Buy bottled water for drinking as cheap enough from supermarket or a filter jug.

There are none. It would be possible to attach a filter like that, but no one does this because the flow from a filter is inherently limited by the filter medium.
That's why they all have a much smaller outlet for the filtered water only.

There are also circumstances where you don't want the water to be filtered such as using water for cleaning, filling a bucket and so on.

chemical taste of water supply.
If the cold water tastes of chemicals, then there is another problem that needs to be fixed, such as the hoses to your dishwasher/washing machine need to be replaced and/or a non-return valve fitting to those
