Im franticly finishing of the loft conversion ready for plaster on Monday, Im doing the studwork under the stairs and im stuck.

I was leaving my stud slightly back with plasterboard so the skim will finish flush to the front of the stringers of the stairs, Now im wondering if i'd be best of just facing this small wall with mdf so I can go onto the stringer.
The stringer is not the best of wood so was only gonna be painted white anyway and thought with mdf might give a better finish and easier than keeping the plasterboard from touching the stringer?

Any thoughts please.

dont come flush leave it set back say 6-12mm [finished face] or you will need a moulding to cover the crack between string and plaster
