terryplumb, yes sorry I didn't give much detail. The plug is down (had to empty the thing by bailing it out!)
Moving the rod between the taps (or moving the short rod which that connects to) does not lift the plug. So I was thinking of taking the plug-lifting fitting out and either mending it or replacing it if not fixable. For this I thought I could undo two bolts into the floor. The H and C are flexi and got plenty of movement (whether the flexis would survive being moved after years I don't know but they're not expensive to replace and they've got those little valves to isolate them). But to get the whole issue forward to get at the waste I would need to undo the waste too. Trying to work out how to do that last thing
