Hello
I’ve just painted my Upvc front door with zinsser allcoat Matt anthracite
As you can hopefully see from the photos the finish is uneven. Some parts looks almost glossy.
I was at this for about 6 hours as it needed so many coats. Am guessing this is due to overpainting wet paint or maybe the paint started to go off.
Anyway what would people recommend? More coats? Sand the glossy bits and paint over?
Cheers for any help!
H

Did you stir paint as pigment can sink to the bottom of can. Be a bit thick at the bottom of can so mix it all up.
You can put a pound shop wooden spoon in a drill and go steady and give it a good mechanical stir.
Was it a mixed tin? Sometimes they forget to shake can so pigment is not mixed in correctly. I've had to go back to get it shaken.
That's what it looks like to me.

Thanks. I shook it before painting, but didn’t stir. You think give it a thorough stirring and then another coat?

You should always stir paint, not saying that's the issue but I've used Zinsser products and you can feel the bottom inch of the can is like treacle before stirring.

Think I'd give that a light sand to remove and runs or high spots.
Paint in sections.
Do the two moulded panels. After a few hours paint plannel insets. Let that dry and so on. Will give you chance to see how it dries.
Don't hit the door in one go.
Don't mess with it either.
You only have 5 mins or less as paint will start drying. Get a good even coat on and walk away or it will go patchy as you apply fresh wet paint over skinned drying paint.
I'd recommend a concave foam roller you can buy from places like Toolstation or Screwfix
