Hi Folks,

In the process of turning my garage into a tropical fish house, I have determined my floor is too uneven. it needs to be as level as possible for the fish tank stands to rest upon.

Floor levelling compound probably is no good as the uneveness is quite sever in places. I am also not sure that it woyuld be strong eough to hold the weight of tanks of water on top (6300ltrs).

What method should i therefore use? screed? Would i be ok putting 1/2 inch of screed down? or should i use something else? I really dont want to raise the floor much higher than it is already soi have to be careful

Thanks

Rob

You won't get that thickness of screed down, it will break up. There are many self level compounds on the market today which go to various levels.

Most of the tile materials I use day in day out are Ardex. They make a form of self level screed which may be of use to you, and will go to that thin layer, but I warn you they are expensive. Do a Google search on 'Ardex' and look at their self leveling compounds etc............good luck.
