I have an uneven lawn. Not only is it undulated but full of divots too. I’m thinking relay or repair and weighing up each option.

The grass itself is in fine fettle, strong blades, good deep roots and remains green even after cutting. There are some broadleaf weeds and moss is present in shaded areas, but not a great lot.

The soil is a sandy loam so drainage is not a problem. Levelling the lawn to make it a flat surface good to walk, sit, play and lie on is what I want. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Thanks
JW

Hi

without on inspection its a decision only you can make.
to help level the lawn i suggest you roll the lawn once at the start of the spring, this will help level out any bump from over winter like worm casts. i would not roll more then this as this will make to lawn compacted which is another problem, which from the sound of your description you go not have.
i would then top dress the lawn using the side on a plank to help level out any hollows. any humps can have the turf lifted and soil taken out and turf replaced.
however if the lawn is badly uneven the only option is to re-lay ensuring a sound and even base is made before laying the turf or seed
regards

The quickest, though not easiest or cheapest, is to re-lay it. I'm about to re-lay mine soon, although I don't know why, kids'll ruin it before summers out. But enough of my problems :D
