that would probably happen to me. couldnt run to save my life,

Sounds like you have done something to your meniscal cartilage... If the joint actually locked (rather than just becoming stiff) you may have even torn it.

But better go to the docs, and if they don't refer you to a physio then find a private one. The longer you wait, the less likely it is to fully recover.

I did this to my knee. I'm quite heavy and decided to have a go at running up and down mountains. Apparently it is a quite common injury in the... more generously-nourished gentleman.

But, a month or so of weekly physio sessions and I was well on my way. seems totally healed now.

I really can't stress how quickly you need to do something about it! Otherwise you might end up never fully recovering.

running at that age when u aint done it for a long time is asking for trouble

get yourself a medical and if its ok then take up cycling it is fair more easier on the joints / good cardio vascular / interesting views

pick and choose your routes so u get a flat run of 12 miles in a circular pattern pefered stay off the countryside routes till you get stronger stay off rush our traffic times

once your legs and lungs get used to it add a few hills to your route and make sure you have a speedo on the bike ( good for ghosting)

ghosting is a way of checkking your previous best on a run all good fun and well backed up now with interesting people meeting for runs out in all shapes n sizes and fitness levels

i love me bike me
