Unpleasant odour (after painting new plaster) (Ed.)

I had a window fitted and the wall inside was re plastered. I gave it a mist coat on the fresh plaster no issues but then I added two coats of Dulux Perfectly Taupe Matt emulsion from a tin I had in my shed that I had previously opened and used. I now suspect the paint had gone off or was contaminated

Since painting the wall I’m experiencing a strong unpleasant odour that smells like smelly socks or sour milk. I’ve bought a new tin of the emulsion and given it another coat but the smell is still there.

Any one had similar issues and any advice on how to remedy this issue. Should I completely strip the paint off back to the plaster or is there anything I can do to prevent the smell.

Any advice welcome.

Regards

Rob
