unspecified washing machine problem

My washing machine was sticking between 4 and 5. Heater is ok so I removed the thermostat and cleaned it then refitted. I am not sure I got the wires back on correct terminals, as now machine does not stick but it does not agitate the wash properly.
Anybody any ideas or info please?

As you are a newbie, the mod is saying 'start your own thread', ie what is the make/model of the machine, post a picture of the connections you refer to also may help.
