I have the Philips 5960 HDMI upscale DVD player and i have to say its quite an improvement over a normal player connected via Scart lead. Mind ive put this down to the HDMI connection. If you can stretch to 200 quid then theres the Toshiba HD DVD player which plays the new HD DVD format in true hi def and upscales old DVDs too.
Im thinking about upgrading to a Blu ray player soon but the cheap toshiba makes HD DVD very tempting.
