a glass is half empty if you are draining it and half full if you are filling it.

human touch will dictate what is comfortably cold or warm, relative to our stable temperature of 37deg C.

a vessel that has 50% of its volume occupied by water is said to be 'containing a liquid'. its relative status as to being empty or full would depend on an outside agency acting upon wether the vessel were being emptied or filled.
