I have front and rear uPVC doors that are a pain to close. They are the type that force you to pull the handle up on the outside in order to be able to turn the key to lock. The thing is, while the doors close, and the catch fits in ok, its almost impossible to pull the handle up to force the "hook" things into place, allowing you to turn the key. In order to do it, you have to grab the handle and then pull it up and away from the door really hard. I'm a big chap, and i find it a hard job.

Are there any good guides or instructions online that could help me find the problem and possibly fix it? I'm trying to sell the place, and am bankrupting myself trying to get it view-able, so calling someone out isn't really an option at the moment.

Any suggestions ?

Sounds like the door has dropped, and the mechanism/strikes are no longer correctly alligned. You'll need to either adjust the strikes, adjust the hinges, or de-glaze and repack the door - depends on how confident you are. If you're in any doubt - call a locksmith, who'll sort you out for an hours labour.
