UPVC Shiplap

I want to replace some rotten tounge and groove with Upvc shiplap and at the same time replace some old timbers in a small lean to porch.

Do I have to fix boarding to the studs first (something like marine ply) or can I just fix the Upvc shiplap to the studs and apply a finish boarding to the inside of the studs?

Yes providing studs timber are upright and not too far apart.

If you mean the other side of the stud wall then that's fine.
