I have a leaking radiator which is getting worse and the supplier has just informed me there is a problem with delivery. This radiator is the bypass radiator, with all the other rads having TRVs. If I turn all the other TRVs to max in order to maintain water flow round the system, will I be ok to turn off the leaking rad and drain down the leaking rad? The leak is so bad, pressure on the worcester greenstar combi is down to zero within a couple of hours
I have a 9 week old baby so need to keep the heating going if poss.

Cheers

Yes turn off and drain rad. Remove head from one other rad which will stay on.
NB if drained rad gets cold its valve will open. If you don't have the "decorator's" cap to shut it manually, put a 5p piece or similar under the head to make sure the pin in the valve is held down.

Thanks ChrisR.
The rad to be drained has normal lockshield valves on it so i was going to just shut it off completely.
As for the TRV controlled rads, a couple of the rads upstairs are pretty useless (due to be changed in the spring :) ) therefore if I leave these full on I am pretty confident that the room temp won't reach the max setting on the respective TRV......thus flow will be maintained in the system and not damage the boiler.........does this seem logical??
