OK, now i know about the electrics side of automated urinal flushers, how does the cistern flush when it gets full?

And in America at least, where they have those manual flush urinals with a valve and handle on top - how do these work?

cheers

Once it gets to a certain level it just tips out.

Urinals without flow control on them will just fill/flush/fill/flush on an endless cycle. The electronic control just stops it filling.

Alternative to electronic control is something like a cisternmiser which only opens the valve in event of a pressure drop (hand wash).

You push the valve and they flush... ;) Couldn't resist.

They work just like a self-closing tap. You hit the button/handle and they open, closing slowly allowing a certain amount of water through. UK regs only allow these fed from storage tanks or off mains pressure with appropriate backflow prevention (pipe interrupter).

as suggested above go with the cistermiser hydraulic control valve. i installed 2 in a couple of months back, works with pressure drop in the same supply pipe to the urinals
