Hi All,

I have recently installed a fitted sink and toilet in the bathroom, and as you can see I have removed the old tacky bath panel that was fitted many decades ago.

I would like to have the bath panel look exactly the same as the fitted appliances, and on a recent trip to B&Q, I came across some furniture boards that are pretty much exactly the same colour (Furniture Panel Alabaster)

My first idea was to use marine ply, primed and spray panted and lacquered to get the same finish, the found a laminate that could go on top, and then found this, which is already done, so would just need cutting to size and fitting, but can I use this in a wet environment?

The panel you have found is melamine faced chipboard (MFC) - useless in a damp environment

You can buy thin laminate sheet which can then be affixed to a panel made of suitable wood.

As stated above, MDF and chipboard are useless in a wet area.

Standard ply would be fine as a backer, marine ply is only necessary where it will be submerged in water.
