I was recently asked to use flashband on a polycarbonate roof where it meets the brick work.

At the time it was only about minus 2 degrees. Fortunately, I still had my heat gun on site.

Initially, I set it at 100 degrees centigrade, I eventually ramped it up to 190.

What is the optimal temperature?

Any temp that works really, unless its absolutely necessary I would wait! use bitumen paint as a primer.

The job had to be done whilst the scaffolding was in place. I wasn't expecting to do it, but it was fortunate that I had the heat gun with me. The tape had zero stickiness given how cold it was,

Keep the roll warm in the house or the van, cut in the warm if possible, then run out quickly to fit it.

We needed to get a gable support, under a steel beam, one harsh (-7 deg C) winters day. We were breaking up for Christmas and I didn't want to leave it propped over the holidays.

We lit a brazier and stacked the blocks in a circle around the brazier. We put a pair of trestles each side of the blocks, strung a length of rebar rod across and suspended a full pale of water over the brazier. We pre-warmed the mixer drum with a couple of kettles of water. We did a compo mix with a blob of frost-proofer and the heated pale of water. We carried the warm blocks up (about 20) and laid them swiftly. We wrapped the lot in loft roll. We then wrapped it with hessian sacking. We removed the Acrow prop the next morning.

Frost never got near it.

Winter of 2009/10. Fudging cold that December
