I have door frames that are painted with oil based primer and three coats of water based satinwood.

The satin wood has been on for a few months and I'm really unhappy with how easy it marks and chips and with a baby on the way I really need a stronger coating on the frames.

Can I over paint the waterbased with oil based satinwood or egg shell?

If so what would be the best preperation to prepare the currently finished surface to accept the oil based product.

Many Thanks

You should be ok to prep with a quick sand and wash with sugarsoap if greasy then straight on with satinwood or eggshell.
