One of the jobs we need to do on my sons house before the winter is to stop the rain getting in the flat roof on his dormer bedroom window...At the moment it's felted, which has been on for years and is split ...We intend to remove the whole roof ( It's only small at approx 2M X2M ) make good any rot and then recover. So my question is, do we refelt and probably have to do it again in a few years time or go for Glass fibre, or rubber membrane. Can any one offer advice on which to go for and approximate costs involved , and whether the competent diyer could carry these out..? thanks in advance ....Bill

To be honest all the work on a roof that size is in the detailing, i.e. the edges, drips etc. So I would be looking at the existing details to get a better idea of which would be the simplest to deal with on a DIY basis.

For a DIY job I would probably go for an EPDM roof. carefully measure up what you need and cost it out. You can get all the materials from one supplier - except the odds and ends for any repair you need to the deck.

I would strongly advise you watch the Videos for the system to decide if you consider yourself good enough. If you do, follow the techniques in the videos to the letter, don't attempt to do it any other way.

Guessing a little over a £100 for all materials.
