Well, now we know how to reset several tools !! And not to "Remember this" When denying a registry change ... Weeel it is a freeby !!

Spybot S & D has some extras, real time monitor of registry etc just doesn't cover everything in it's help but the 'poster' pointed to above has it pretty well 'boxed off' ... SS&D compliments the old Ad-aware se !! adds to the paranoia !!

Sorry to tout the benefits of FireFox once again (at this rate you'll all start thinking I'm paid to advertise them or something), but I have AdAware 6 installed - previously, when running IE6, I'd scan with Adaware once a week or so and typically be removing 50 to 60 suspicious elements - now when I run it it only picks up maybe an average of 6 or 7, and I'm guessing they're picked up through banner links that I click out of curiosity...

Have used both SpyBot and Ad-aware. Started to a while ago when my son got 'Blaster' on his PC - system blacking out and turning off.

Downloaded SpyBot and ran - didn't make any difference. Did same with Ad-aware and all fixed.

Seems you need both - hopefully between them they find everything.

I try these 'gizmos' partly out of curiosity, some paranoia, I must say that very rarely do any of them find anything at all ... which probably means I am inundated with undetectable slime ... I do have NAV up to date and ZAP (subscribed) the latter is quite impressive.

I was nevertheless less than impressed to find the error in SB S&D which meant that if I denied a registry change, then clicked 'remember this' , then the next time the same change was attempted, it was allowed to happen ... being the opposite to what should have.

With all this so called protection software there are very few 'test' programs to show what could happen in the event of an intrusion ... Here is one such place :-
