Utopia Counter Sink Unit

Hi, i have a Utopia Counter sink as seen in the picture, it has started to leak from the waste area, and now need to replace the waste ASAP before it blows the worktop, however i cannot do this unless i remove the sink as the waste nut is recessed within the worktop and vanity unit, any ideas on how the basin is fixed ? it doesnt appear to be fixed to the wall, and was fitted in the house from new prior to me buying it, so i dont have any details of the fitter .

i would guess that its glued with silicon. if you can undo the waste nut and the chrome waste you might just need to clean the sealant off and reseal without removing the sink.

hi, thanks for your reply, i am unable to get to the nut that holds the waste as it is through a hole cut in the vanity unit, and then through the worktop, so i dont think i have any option other than to remove the sink, just given it a good rock but it feels solid !

by the way are UTOPIA sinks like this one expensive to replace ?

using a stanley knife score the silicon all the way round. using a wooden wedge (make one) knock it gently in between the tiles and the sink. as th egap opens use the stanley knife again to cut thru the silicon. you may need a couple of wedges and some patience. without seeing it myself i have no idea how it is fixed. i susect th ewaste was fitted before it was put on the worktop. it may be glued to the worktop too and not just the tiles.

it is a guess. if you do break the sink.......

dont forget to turn the water off
