UVPC Windows: need to choose between Eurocell or Liniar

Hi,

I am planning to replace 12 35-year-old wooden windows in my house with UPVC.

I am deciding between two suppliers, one that would use the Eurocell Logik 70mm casement and the other that would use Liniar windows. I have no previous experience of UVPC windows but my research tells me that quality of fitting is more important than brand of window. That said, I'd like to get some impression of the relative merits of the two windows brands. I saw a post from ten years ago comparing them but I would welcome a more up to date opinion!

The Eurocell brochure mentions 10 years guarantee on the window frames, 5 years on the glass and 3 on 'hardware'. Is that standard for the market? The Liniar brochure does not mention to guarantees at all! Both quotes are from FENSA suppliers but not sure how much consumer protection that offers.

All profiles are a much of a muchness, both those are decent systems and I'd have no problem recommending either.

The guarantees you mention are offered by the installer not eurocell or liniar themselves so not sure who's brochures your looking at?

Thank you The brochures were set to me by the installers and are generic manufacturers brochures describing the product range. On the quote the installers have said which models they would use in my house. So far I have not seen any statement about guarantees from the installer. Before I pay the deposit and commit myself I obviously need to see the terms of any guarantee in writing One thing that concerns me is whether the installation activities are guaranteed in themselves The hardware of the windows is guaranteed. FENSA covers installations that are contrary to buildings regulations but what about mistakes with installations that do not contravene regulations. Both installers are highly regarded and friends have had work done by them. So the risk may not be significant. But it is a contractual gap even if then installer would put it right as an act of "goodwill".

Eurocell don't make glass or hardware so not sure how they can guarantee those elements, Eurocell only extrude the upvc profile and sell it to fabricators. The guarantee to you comes from the installer not Eurocell or Liniar, they are just the extruder NOT the installer

Fensa and Certass stipulate a bare minimum they accept, the guarantees and warranty work I carry out (for Certass) range from 10,10,10 and 10,5,5 and 10,5,1

Very little, I know Certass offer deposit protection insurance but once the installtion is completed and signed off as compliant then any faults, adjustments, failures are between you and the installer under the guarantee they supplied you with

OK thanks. However the Eurocell brochure I was emailed (reference: EU00403 Is1/Oct20) definitely says they "make" windows and the Logik Casement is the one I would be getting. Perhaps that is "make" as in assemble from components made by subcontractors to their specification. But I take your point that any guarantees they offer would be to installers not end users like me. I assume the process is that the dimensions taken by the installers during the detailed survey will be used by Eurocell to supply windows to that specification and then it is up to the installers to deliver the finished product

To avoid going down the rabbit hole on this one, the key element is the installers warranty. No doubt I will be given paperwork to sign next week when I pay the deposit. I will scrutinise that carefully.
