Vailant boiler keeps coming on

I have an 18 month Vailant boiler, also have a british gas UP2 control box next to the hot water tank in airing cupboard. The control box is currently set to heating OFF and water is on a timer which is twice through the day, the problem is the boiler comes on at all times of the day and so does not seem to be governed by the box, is this likely a faulty box? any advice appreciated.

If your boiler is heat only, ie not a combi, then it could be a faulty Zone valve. View media item 38425 View media item 44939

So if the valve is faulty and opens, it would kick the boiler in ?

As 45years said, models vary.

Can you tell us just which model Vaiilant boiler you have?, some pictures would be good esp if you have a hot-water cylinder?

Boiler is a Ecotec 418 plus
