Hello,

Got a bit of an issue trying to access the inestaller level on my thermostat for my Vailant combi boiler.

I was told to go in to it to adjust/double check a setting (by a plumber friend) but I can't seem to get past the access screen. He said to put in code 17, but doing so and pressing 'ok' does nothing

The display screen for 'installer level' shows a screen with 3 digits (000) in the center. Scrolling the wheel on the thermostat up so it gets to 017, didn't work. Any thoughts on why? could the access codes of been changed some how?

thermostat model - vrc470f
At least i assume thats the model number/name.

Does removing the batteries reset it perhaps?

000 is the default, but the code is configurable by whoever set it up.

In Menu> Basic Settings, there is a Factory Reset.

yeah i was debating trying the factory reset
If that would push it back to default

Im getting the impression the code has been changed at some point but i'm not sure when or by who. 000 currently doesn't work either.

If i do the full factory reset, would there be other important ...but mayb enot obvious, settings that I would lose/need to reapply, outside of basic stuff like timings/desired temps etc

There was another post like this, on here recently.
I believe they went through every code until they got it!
Surprisingly, it didn't take too much time! :)

oh dear ^^ thats an option. But i can't see how it would be something really obscure, 999 options to check i guess.

If no code works, then im assuming theres something else at fault.

After a factory reset what would be the key settings within the installer level to re-adjust?
The only setting im familiar with is Heat Curve

Boiler manufacturers do not make it "easey" to access the Installer level because they do not want the general public to dick about with settings unless you have the competency to do so. MI,s will show the procedure to access and what the codes mean and how to alter. The knowledge of when to alter these codes for the desired results can take years of experience. Good luck.

No, it's all just the basic stuff, date and time, on times and temperatures. Just go through and note them down first.
