Hi everyone I’m hoping someone might be able to help. I have a Vaillant EcoTec 24 boiler. 2 days ago it started showing an F29 (re-ignition) fault. The system could be re-started, the flame would ignite and the system would operate for maybe 5-10 seconds before the light went out. It would stay out for 5-10 seconds, then come back on for 5-10 more. It would cycle like this usually for a couple of minutes before locking out and displaying the F29 fault.
Yesterday an engineer came out and replaced firstly the PCB, then the gas valve. Neither of these stopped the cycling. He then said it could be a grounding issue so he checked the plug. He also made some changes with regards to emissions but the cycling remained.
Lastly, he unscrewed the flue at the top of the boiler and said that the install was shocking and that the installer had used screws that were far too long which had gone through the turret and were all rusty. He claimed this was therefore the problem but he would ‘struggle to get’ the correct parts in a timely manner and i would need to start contacting Vaillant specialists. He then cut and run. He charged me a reduced time rate and I have the new parts left in for free but obviously still the same problem and no heating or hot water currently!
Has anyone come across this before? Is there an obvious solution to this problem and do you agree with his final diagnosis of a turret/flue problem to solve the fault/cycling?
Thanks in advance for any help.
