Vaillant Boiler - need a manual but no model number!

Hello,

I need to track down a manual for my boiler but I can't find a model number for it. There isn't anything written on the front, or behind any of the panels that I'm able to remove.

It is a Vaillant Combi boiler that was installed when the property was new - about 9 years ago. However no manual was ever given to us when we moved in a few years back.


I'm having a problem with my hot water - the unit won't produce any when the hot taps/shower are turned on. I think it might be due to low pressure, which when the hot water taps are on the guage goes down to zero.
I want to top up the pressure but I've no idea where the valve is, or which it might be!
Oddly enough I get hot water when I turn the central heating on.

I've attached a photo of my boiler in the hope that it might jog someones memory!

I call it a 242 but it will also have a name like Turbomax etc.

Your fault is a failed diverter valve!

The filling loop is not part of the boiler and is probably fitted on the pipework underneath. Look in the FAQ on this site to se what they can look like then set the pressure to about 1.5 Bar.

Agile is correct about the diverter valve p/no 011289. But you have a problem with low water pressure and your filling loop has been left turned on, suggest you locate as soon as posssible, as heating water is being back flushed into your hot water each time you turn the tap on. Happy hunting
