Hi There,

I have been searching around the web and looking on DIYnot for a while so please excuse me if this question has been covered before and I missed it.

I have a Valliant VCW-Sine 18 T3 WFH boiler and it was working fine. All of a sudden, although the pilot light is on, when the hot water is switched on or the heating is turned on, the boiler doesn't kick into action and fire up to heat the water.

I tried turning it off and back on again in case it was something as simple as that (I wish) but this didn't help. The pressure gage shows at just under 1.5 bar and the heating gage shows that the temp is half way down the black line below the 30 mark.

Does any one have any suggestions on this as we are going to get a new boiler in about 8 months but are hoping that this baby will see us through until then.

If you need any assistance in regards to IT then please don't hesitate to contact me as I am an 11 year veteran so will quite happliy assist with any issues in return.

Thanks loads for any time and pointers you can give.

You could check the boiler has not overheated.

Very, very carefully remove the lower cover panel. If you accidently touch the red (pilot off) button you may find it won't relight (sometimes requires the control assembly stripping down due to the mechanism seizing...corgi only).

Then follow the piezo ignitor knob back to where it screws onto the control box. There should be a little rubber button...check it's pushed in.

Thanks for the info. I found the rubber button you are talking about. (The overheat reset button?). When I tried pushing the button in, it was was as if it was just filed with air and there was nothing underneeth/inside the button.

Do you know if this is correct? I tried pushing it in as well as in every direction so not sure if something is meant to pop out to show it has overheated which when you press the button pushes it back in to reset it?

If this is the case then I'm assuming it is not a pressure or overheating issue with my boiler and probably something a bit more serious?

I really appreciate your help with this.
