The pressure gauge on the boiler has been just below the green zone 0.5bar so I decided to turn on the filling loop briefly.

I was surprised how much water rushed in. And I turned it off when it reached 1 bar (cold). The mid point in the green zone.

Red is at 3 bar.
Green zone ends at 2 bar.

Is there a more scientific way I should be setting the dial or using the filling loop?

A little worried as the system sounded like it would take a lot more water.

Thanks.

The pressure indicated on the gauge is just fine!

when you open the filling loop water will flow into the system direct from the cold main which can be in excess of 7 bar! so you do have to watch the gauge carefully, only part opening the filling loop will make things less fraught! ;)

These guages can be very inaccurate! Mine read nearly zero when the digital readout available on my Vaillant EcoTec + shows 1.5 bar...
