Well OK then does anyone have experience of a Turbomax that turns the burner on in the middle of the night when there is no demand for heat but the pump does not appear to run?

If its the post 2000 range 824/828, it could be that the warmstart facility which pre-heats for dhw is activated. If so to de-activate it turn the dhw stat fully to off position till pre-heat light goes out and return to desired temp. If will re-activate only if you turn selector fully clockwise.
both stats were turned to the minimum position I suspected the control board
