Vaillant combi boiler, cant find model number it looks old aprox 1991 i think. Called engineer out as the hot water tap in kitchen doesn't always come out hot and boiler doesn't turn on, but if i leave the hot tap on in kitchen , run to bathroom run hot tap, boiler then fires up. Engineer said the kitchen tap is faulty needs replacing, nothing to do with the boiler, he refilled boiler with water as pressure was low (needs this doing at least once a year) then he said there is a leak at bottom of boiler i think its the diverter valve?? not sure what its called, slight water drip coming from the top of the block where 2 pipes go to boiler and another 2 pipes go out. The engineer then said it would be expensive to repair 300.00 parts and started talking about new system which would mean ripping the kitchen out. The boiler works very well and previous engineers have said doesn't need to be replaced. Can anyone tell me how i can find out the model number or confirm the part that needs repair/replacing as i would like to be able to phone around and check prices etc.
Thank you

vcw242e .Nothing up with your tap it is the bit you have the drip from thats faulty , its called the water section and there is a diaphragm in there that is worn the leak will be from the gland nut.
Simple enough repair whole water section is approx 100 quid and takes minutes to do providing the leak has not rotted a grub screw that holds it in place

Thank you for the replies people!

I think namsag may have it. Looked at pictures on the manuals at www.heatingspares247.com that i found while looking around here. Took pictures of it but cant get door off as part hidden by kitchen cupboard. Yes the 2 dials on the right are square.
In one picture the top silver looking screw looks a bit rusty inside the thing, is this the grub screw?
Also how do i know what the water section part number or the correct diaphram etc is?
Thanks again for all your help on this I have posted 2 pictures here

The UK part number for the diaphragm kit is 01-0359. That includes the diaphragm, screws, spring, thrust plate, spindle O ring and bush. It may be different in Holland.

These later water sections are quite easy to refurbish if the screws are not corroded by the leak. The screw Namsag mentioned looks OK in your picture, just use a new Pozidrive screwdriver of the correct fit and maybe a bit of WD40 to help the thread. You may also want to get some washers for the connections to the water section (98-1511). They sometimes break apart when taking the section out.

I took off the grey panel and looked underneath for the model number, only number i can see on the silver plate is 0893 49 and in a circle underneath that is a number 3. I am guessing that the date of boiler is 1993.

Just need to confirm that this is a vcw 242E as i have to phone around to get quotes for fixing the leak as not able to do myself.

Taken more photos to confirm

Thanks.

They dont make 'em like they used to.

Worcester Bosch, take note that there's metal, brass in that particular boiler , not plastic

Well whats interesting is that your boiler is looking like its open flue with electronic ignition (never available in the UK). Its also got the water cooled burners which we never had too . I'll have a stab at its a VCW 184XE or VCW 244XE. Open the top door and look on the front of the top chassis. The serial number and model data badge is usually there.

The water section may differ between models because the venturi is different, but the kit is the same.

Ah, I didn't even try to look on the top part, I know the model number now its :-

97 33063735

VCW NL 244XE

Thank you for the help.

Mr 831 right again  I can tell u that from that serial number if it's format is same as uk it is a 1997 build
