Hi,
Since installation few months ago my Vaillant EcoTec 418 never exceeds ~75% gas flow according to the display.
This is annoying because the boiler takes longer to heat up and does not operate at max efficiency even from starting from dead cold water.
I asked Vaillant Vaillant said that there is a range rating setting but this should only be accessed and adjusted by an installer on site.
I called the installer and they said I'll have to pay a call service charge that would be refunded if found the issue is outside the boiler scope.
Hence before I pay the money for a service call I'd like to make sure that the issue is not outside the boiler.
Question - is it possible that the installer purposely de-rated the boiler?
I this a normal practice?
From picture it seems that the de-rating is from 18kw (rated power) to ~15kw (which is the power of the old boiler)?
Should the installer discuss de-rating with the customer first?
The boiler is heat only type - with traditional open vented system and Hive on/off switch - so very unlikely the issue is outside the boiler?
Picture attached show meter on the left "gas flow/power" never exceeds somewhere 75% the rated power starting from cold (target temp is 75C).
Many Thanks
