Morning all -
just wanted some confirmation on replacing the old timer on a vaillant vcwgb242eh - the old clicky twisty timer has given up & I cant get a replacement - have decided on a lp111 timer , but have seen conflicting info on the wiring - on the LP111 instructions it says to put a common live from the live terminal to pin 1 then connect the switch wires to pins 2 & 3.
The boiler instuctions state that pin 3 from the boiler is switched live and should go to the pin 1 (com) on the lp111 with pin4 from the boiler going to pin 3 on the lp111 (on)
I tried the second of the two as the first one didnt seem right having a switched live from the boiler going to a common live on the lp111 - and the result is the boiler is on all the time - with the old timer connected & disconnected
- should the lp111 instructions be followed or the vaillant ones ? & does the old timer need disconnecting as well or can it be left??
thanks for any advice , Ive been told there may be a circuit board fault if the boiler is on all the time when the lp111 is connected using the 240v for the timer , but works okay when the old 20v timer is manually switched on & off
