My current set up is Vaillant ecoTEC plus 832 combi boiler, with a Vaillant Sensohome Vrt380F to control the heating. Ideally I would like to get this updated to allow me to manage the heating away from my home through an App. I've been looking at the Vaillant Internet Gateway as a means for getting this outcome.

From a compatibility lookup, it looks like the Gateway is compatible with both the boiler & the Sensohome room thermostat installed.

I just don't know how to get to what i want in the most efficient way possible. It looks like the current boiler receiver/thermostat receiver is wired in to the boiler - giving the impression that I'd need a Gas Safe engineer to take it off to replace.

However, does anyone know whether i could just unwire the receiver end, and wire that straight into the new Internet Gateway? The installation instructions for the Gateway are pretty rubbish

Thanks

Theoretically, the eBus is a typical bus system; the connections can be daisy-chained.
I.e. an extra pair of wires could be connected between the eBus terminals of the Gateway and the Vrt380f, without the need to open up the boiler.
The gateway would also require its own power supply.

Daisy-chaining the eBus is commonly used by people homebrewing their own home automation systems, using eBus adapters and the open source ebusd project.
However, I'm afraid I dont have personal experience in this, and have no idea about its efficacy.

Thank you. That’s given me some helpful places to go off and read through.

Grinch is correct, you just daisy-chain off what you have. Be aware that the gateway needs a power source as well though, eBus doesn't power it and it doesn't normally come with a mains adapter. Either a 12v LED driver or a universal mains adapter

Should I get the SensoNet instead of the Internet Gateway? From what I can see they’re basically the same thing?
