My daughter's just moved into a house & the boiler was working OK until the 2 radiators were re-positioned (valves shut off & system drained slightly).

Since re-filling, bleeding air from all rads & central heating pump, the boiler won't ignite.
System pressure is at 1.5 bar.
Have checked the following:-

Green power on button OK
Yellow demand central heating demand indicator OK
Yellow fan operation indicator OK
Yellow ignition indicator OK
No sparking at burner & system shuts down after 10 secs (red lockout indicator glows)

Tried resetting a few times but no luck.
Also tried Hot Water only & still no ignition.
Checked mains gas valve is fully on (cooker & gas fire work OK).
The pump seems to run OK, I can move the pump spindle & the auto bleed valve on the pump is loosened by 2 turns.

However the pump body is getting quite hot, but no connected pipes are even warm, not sure why though?

Any clues as to the problem please?

The pipes won't get hot if the boiler isn't firing.
Sounds as though the pump is stuck, try taking the big silver end screw out and see if it's spinning, be aware there may well be some water escape so towels/tubs etc are advised.

I've taken the end screw out & the spindle revolves when the pump is off, though haven't checked it when powered up yet.

If there's only one problem though, how does this explain no domestic hot water supply (i.e CH pump not necessary)?

Pump is used to heat both HW and CH circuits in a combi. :)

Pump needs to run for HW as well as CH.
Turn on boiler with screw out and see if it spins.

people really should leave stuff alone. gas boilers which they dont know how they work.

I know my limits, am a mechanical engineer by trade (aircraft though), have some knowledge on CH, just not on combi boilers, hence my asking for advice on here.

Thanks to twgas & Tipper for their help though.

cool job . if ur an engineer will be east fixed get ur multimeter out nd start testing

Get your dictionary out & make some sense...
then move on to grammar & punctuation

all the best thinkers were dyslexic . i get on fine with my english skills . i wont ever be teaching english so i aint worried . however wat does worrie me is that an aircraft engineer cant fix a simple boiler . mmm interesting . wonder wat part of the airfix factory you work in . best bit of advice for you is call a real engineer put ur hand in ya pocket and pay .

This is my last response to you (benjomeen), can't be bothered entering into a slanging match with someone who's got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning ...or maybe every morning.

i certainly didnt get out the wrong side of bed . u just took affence to me saying get ur multi meter out and start testing for some reason either cause u dont own one or are to stupid to use such a simple device, then you decided to comment on spellings to make up for you own inadequacies. simple fact is people like you shouldnt be messing with stuff u know nothing about . engineer or not . get a registered professional in thats why us registered people are here paying our public liablity insurance our test fees registration and all the other costs involved.

with all due respect you are paying for PLI because you don't trust your work 100% and/or your registering body insists on it because THEY don't trust ANYONES work 100%..
and as he is doing work on his own boiler system not for profit, then he doesn't NEED to be registered.. his PLI wouldn't cover him to do work in his own premises anyway, as I doubt yours would.. most don't.. ( check your small print )
