Hi,

I've a Vaillant VCW GB 221H combi-boiler hooked onto a parallel CH system, with individual thermostat radiators. The fault symptoms are confusing me...

When a hot water tap is turned on (in DHW mode, ie CH is OFF), the water from the tap, at best, gets lukewarm, but the radiators heat up!

Hot water supply is fine when the heating is on. Obviously, there is some fault that is causing the DHW to bleed into the CH system, but I've no idea what fault can cause this.

I'd be really grateful for any advice, as I'm completely stumped by this.

Thanks in advance,

Heggsy

that would be the diverter gone

Thanks for the swift reply, bengasman.

I'm a complete novice with this, but I do have the installation booklet. Would this be the "Hydraulically Operated Diverter Valve"?

I forgot to mention, if I close off all the radiators, the hot water comes through fine...would this change your diagnosis? If not, is this a job I should tackle myself, or should I get in an engineer?

Thanks very much,

Heggsy

Sounds like diverter still. Bit of a job for diy. Pro would be good idea as it could be wear and tear or have a specific cause.
Get a reputable enigineer and ask to see his corgi card. Best would be to get a local chap by recommendation. Or girls for that matter

Thanks very much, I'll do that.

My only worry is I've only just moved to this area, so I don't have any knowledge on who the good guys (or girls) and who the cowboys are. I'll ask around.

Thanks again,

Heggsy
