I'm trying to isolate the the supply but there are no valves in the piping so i figured there would be one on the boiler somewhere... thanks!

Many many thanks for the rapid response and the manual.
I needed a manual quickly because the hot water has developed a slight fault in the respect that the boiler does not always come on when the hot water tap it turned on. I have to then put the central heating on to get hot water. I also think that the temperature dial does not work and need to check this out.
I have in the past had it in bits when faults have occured, but this was when I had the original manual and could reference items.
I have only just come across this site and looked at the posts and am quite impressed at the knowledge and response by you all. Keep up the good work guys and I'll let you know how I get on.

Shaft or diaphragm in water section underneath jammed or failed!

I dont think the manual would actually tell you that.

The only one I have ever seen was in a little booklet form and not really very informative.

Thanks Agile..... does sound like a diphragm problem as it occurs now and again. As a guide, where is the best place to obtain Vailant parts from (apart from the obvious Vailant web site )?

Parts Center have a lot of branches around the country.

But they are starting to be listed as obsolete!

There may also be a question of which is the right one!

This may sound a silly question but can the peizo ignition be swapped for a push button type?

I dont see why not but it would not be so easy to mount.
